Julia Fiona Roberts, born 28th October 1967 at Atlanta in the United States to Betty Lou Bredemus & Walter Grady Roberts. She belongs to the fourth generation of Robertses to reside in the Atlanta region, beginning in the family of her grand-father John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. She inherited her father's interest in theater from a young stage. When he was a student in Emory University in 1952 he performed in shows on campus as well as in other parts of Atlanta. In 1953, when he joined the Air Force, he appeared alongside Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. In 1955, the couple got married and in 1956 their child Eric Anthony was born. Walter along with his wife quit the Air Force in and enrolled Walter in Tulane University. Walter worked for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the couple relocated to Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning local television show that was aimed at children, called Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964, a project that they funded themselves. They also founded an organization that lasted for six years called the Actors and Writers Workshop later the same year. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) as well as Julia (also called Julie) at the time.
