Alison Krauss was born July 23, 1971, in Decatur, Illinois. Alison Krauss and LeAnn Kymes were the two newest Grammy Award winners. Alison Maria Krauss - born July 23rd 1971 - is a popular American bluegrass and country vocalist. Her career in music began at an early age winning local contests by when she was 10 years old and recording for the first time at the age of 14. She was signed in 1985 by Rounder Records. Her first solo album came out in 1987. Then, she was invited to join Alison Krauss Union Station, the band she currently performs together. Her debut album in a group with this band was released in 1989.
